Malaysian Society of Transplantation
It is with great pleasure that I, on behalf of the Organizing Committee, welcome all honorable speakers and delegates to the 26th Annual Scientific Meeting of the Malaysian Society of Transplantation, which will be held at MATRADE Exhibition and Convention Centre (MECC), Kuala Lumpur. As we move away from the stressful pandemic period, we are now able to conduct a fully physical attendance event and attract as many delegates as possible.
This year, our focus is Organ Donation & Procurement and hence "Braving the Odds" is chosen as the theme. Despite all challenges in the field of organ donation and transplantation, we still have to step up efforts and carry on. Scientific meeting like this is the platform to address issues and challenges, as well as to share clinical experiences and scientific method among healthcare professionals.
Malaysia has been able to perform and provide services for transplantation, both of solid organ & tissue transplant. Several transplant centers and tissue banks are available to ensure patients have access to treatments. Healthcare professionals involved in transplant have been working together, guaranteeing continuity of service and most importantly utilizing the gift of life in the best possible ways for the benefit of recipients. Continuous efforts have already taken place in building awareness among healthcare professionals and general public. As a result, today more than 200,000 Malaysians have pledge to become organ donor!
However, demand in organ donation remains as the main challenge in performing life-saving transplant. National Transplant Resource Centre, which is the main department managing deceased organ donation & procurement, has been working tirelessly to increase donor rate and to ensure safety procurement process so that optimal quantity and quality organ transplantation can be achieved. We still have a very long way to go.
I would like to say "Welcome!" again, hoping this event will be enlightening to be practiced in delivering our services. To our esteemed panelists, speakers, sponsors and industry partners, thank you again for your great contribution.
Have a great meeting!
